Lemon water has no evidence of boosting metabolism or accelerating fat loss directly. The weight loss benefits attributed to lemon water come from water itself: Dennis et al. (2010, RCT): 500ml water before meals produced 2.44 kg greater weight loss at 12 weeks. Lemon adds vitamin C (5–10 mg per half lemon vs. UK RNI of 40 mg/day) and may enhance iron absorption from plant foods (Hallberg 1981). Claims about 'detoxification' or metabolic enhancement from lemon are not supported by human evidence.
